A Concert of Hope

“In his document titled Spes Non Confundit, the late Pope Francis describes Hope as “An active, daily gift that opens new horizons and sees beyond present pain.  Rather than passive wishing or naïve optimism, he emphasizes that true hope is grounded in God’s promises and calls people to build a better future together.  Tomorrow’s hope flowers amid today’s pain.”

It is in this light that we offer A Concert of Hope – “Eternal Light: A Requiem” by Howard Goodall.  Goodall describes his piece as a modern Requiem that acknowledges the unbearable loss of a loved one not easily comforted with platitudes about the joy of the afterlife.  This is a Requiem for the living, intended to provide solace for the grieving by addressing their suffering and endurance as God has promised for a “better future together.”
